Yes, they seem to prey on the novice investor and avoid the details. They even pretend that they really don't know about all the outrageous account closing fees. They get very pissy when you tell them you are not happy with their surprise fees. But they wont produce any signed papers that prove one was properly informed.
The Retirement Group does seem to focus on Telco employees, but I have not heard a common opinion from the people I know, either pro or con. I listened to several of their presentations and chose to handle it myself.
I know many mutual funds have back-end fees, but had not heard that this is a common practice with TRG. It seems like ETFs are becoming more popular than mutual funds since, in many cases, they have a lower fee structure.
